It became apparent to some lesbian & gay persons that aspects of Cornwall's LGBT social, gay health, equality & campaigning history were being re-written. Certain inconvenient truths about Cornish LGBT life of the late C20th & early C21st were being airbrushed out & erased entirely by those now in control & running the 'official'? recording of Cornwall's LGBT history. 'One Queer Gay Life' is a referenced record drawn from the Sprocket Trust small archive (press cuttings, documents, letters, photos, publications, etc.) of aspects of LGBT life in Cornwall others might prefer you simply did not know.

2000 - Plymouth Pride Forum

2000 - Plymouth Pride Forum

By 2000 Lidbury following attempted suicide had withdrawn from LGBT campaigning, but he had met his new partner Rob M. The couple met at Pinkies, an LGBT Fri/Sat venue held at Sandridge hotel in Newquay, Cornwall.

NB: Pinkies LGBT nights ran until about 2003

Prudence de Villiers  ran 'In other Words', an LGBT friendly bookshop on Mutley Plain, Plymouth.  From the very begining of Lidbury starting campaigning on LGBT issues Pru had been an avid supporter in particular of the ICT newsletter run in Cornwall by Lidbury.

Lidbury was however invited by Pru to speak at the Plymouth Pride Forum.  Lidbury spoke on 'Police Homophobia'.  There seemed to be a world of difference between relatively positive & supportive policing in Plymouth towards LGBT persons & the widespread homophobic attitudes of police officers in Cornwall.
